Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The rupiah exchange rate is still experiencing a weakening trend. Even a number of analysts predict that the Rupiah could touch the level of Rp17,000 per United States (US) Dollar. So what is the impact?

CNBC Indonesia Financial Expert Robertus Andrianto Serin said the most significant effect of the weakening rupiah is that the price of food and beverages will increase because food ingredients are still imported. Thus, people's purchasing power could decrease and increase inflation. Robertus also said that those affected by the weakening rupiah would be widespread, not only the lower middle class, but also the upper class.
