Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia- Bank Indonesia recorded a slowdown in credit distribution to MSMEs in December 2023 to IDR 1,364.2 trillion and grew 7.9% (yoy) or slowed compared to November 2023 which grew 8.5% (yoy).
Executive Director of the Segara Research Institute, Piter Abdullah, assesses that the slowdown in credit distribution at the end of 2023 must be watched out for because the slowdown is greater than the overall credit slowdown.
This condition reflects the threat of a decline in people's welfare and threatens economic growth considering that MSMEs are the sector that absorbs the largest workforce. Healthy credit should grow above 20%.
In line with Piter Abdullah, Senior Advisor for Economics & Policy at BRI Danareksa Sekuritas, Telisa Aulia Falianty sees the slowdown in MSME credit when corporate credit grows high as reflecting changes in the economic structure and increasing inequality.
