3 Jokowi Ministers Will Run as Candidates for General Chair of Golkar News – 21 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Three ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet will compete for the seat of general chairman of the Golkar Party at the National Conference which will be held this year. They are Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister for Investment Bahlil Lahadalia, and Minister for Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.

The news about Jokowi's three ministers advancing to the Golkar Party leadership election was revealed by the Deputy General Chair of the Golkar party, Bambang Soesatyo. Bamsoet, who currently serves as Chairman of the MPR, will be the fourth candidate in the National Conference.

This means that there are four people who are confirmed to be running for the Golkar National Conference which is scheduled to take place in December, namely Bamsoet, Airlangga, Bahlil and Agus Gumiwang.

“At least four voices have emerged who will compete in this year's National Conference forum. There is Mr. Airlangga, then there is Mr. Agus Gumiwang, then there is Mr. Bahlil, and there is me,” said Bamsoet at the parliament complex as quoted from CNN IndonesiaMonday (11/3).

Previously, one of the founding organizations of Golkar, the Mutual Cooperation Family Deliberation Organization (MKGR) held an internal consolidation to support Airlangga to run again at the National Conference. The meeting was attended by a number of MKGR officials who were also elites from the Golkar party's DPP.

The closed meeting was held in the Gunawarman area, South Jakarta, Tuesday evening (27/2).

“We also hope that from the discussions there is still a desire from all of us to retain Mr. Airlangga Hartarto as General Chair in the future,” said General Chair of the MKGR High Council Roem Kono after the meeting.

Airlangga did not comment much when confirmed about his plans to run again as chairman of Golkar in the National Conference this December.

When asked about this, Airlangga did not answer clearly. He just smiled and said that the party's national deliberation would be held in December 2024.

“National Conference in December 2024,” said Airlangga briefly after the plenary meeting at the Golkar DPP, West Jakarta, Sunday (10/3/2024), as quoted by detik.com.

Airlangga's answer was greeted with laughter from the Golkar elite present. After that, Airlangga greeted and exchanged pleasantries with Golkar Deputy Deputy Commissioner Bambang Soesatyo or Bamsoet. Airlangga also did this to other Golkar elites.
