Apple Gives Out IDR 7.7 T to iPhone Users, These Are the Conditions Tech – 3 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – In 2020, Apple agreed to pay compensation for iPhone users' lawsuits. The Cupertino giant was accused of deliberately reducing the performance of older iPhones or what is called 'throttling'.

Now, Apple is starting to pay compensation in stages to iPhone users who are victims. Users who claimed their losses received payments of US$ 92.17 or the equivalent of Rp. 1.4 million.

The case's official litigation website confirmed that the final appeal was rejected in December 2023. Therefore, payments can be made from January 2024.

The total payment from Apple for this case is estimated at US$ 500 or around Rp. 7.7 trillion, quoted from TechRadar, Monday (8/1/2024).

If you don't make a claim, don't expect to receive compensation, even if you are also a victim. The deadline for submitting compensation claims from Apple has been closed since October 6 2020.

To receive this compensation, users must be based in the United States (US). Those who qualify are iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, or SE users running the iOS 10.2.1 operating system.

Users who are eligible to receive compensation must have the old iPhone by December 21 2017.

In December 2017, Apple admitted that iOS was running slowly on older iPhones, as the batteries got older. Apple argued that the move was made to ensure device stability.

However, users do not accept this reason. Users also feel that Apple is acting unfairly and not transparently regarding policies that directly impact them.
