BMKG's Latest Warning! Rob Flood Watch in Jakarta & Banten Tech – 2 days ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) provides the latest warning regarding the risk of tidal floods in a number of coastal areas.

BMKG said the full moon phase phenomenon will increase the maximum sea tide height.

Based on data monitoring water level and tidal predictions, several of these areas are at risk of tidal flooding, namely:

  • Coast of North Sumatra
  • Coastal Jakarta
  • Banten Coast
  • Lampung Coast
  • Kep Coast. Riau
  • West Kalimantan Coast
  • Coast of Central Java
  • East Java Coast
  • Coast of North Sulawesi
  • North Maluku Coast

In general, tidal floods will impact community activities around ports and coasts, such as loading and unloading and salt ponds. BMKG urges the public to anticipate the impact of maximum sea water tides.

The risk of tidal floods in each region has different times between 23-31 December 2023.
