Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesia again recorded a trade balance surplus in the March 2024 period. From data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the trade balance surplus in March 2024 reached US$4.47. This is the 47th consecutive surplus since May 2020.
This surplus occurred in line with exports increasing by US$ 22.43 billion and imports decreasing by US$ 17.96 billion in March 2024.
The trade balance surplus is projected to increase in March 2024, supported by stronger commodity prices and improvements in manufacturing activities of major trading partners.
This surplus is in line with the market consensus gathered by CNBC Indonesia from 10 institutions. The agency estimates that the trade balance surplus in March 2024 will reach US$ 1.54 billion. This surplus increased slightly compared to February 2024 which reached US$ 0.87 billion.
