Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk (JSMR) recorded that 1,272,434 vehicles left the Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabotabek) areas during H-7 to H-1 Christmas Day 2023 which falls in the Monday-Sunday period ( 18-24 December 2023).

This figure is the cumulative figure for traffic flow (traffic) from four Barrier/Main Toll Gates (GT), including GT Cikupa (going towards Merak), GT Ciawi (going towards Puncak), and GT Cikampek Utama (going towards Trans Java ) and GT Kalihurip Utama (heading towards Bandung).

Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, said that the total volume of traffic leaving the Jabotabek area increased by 27.68% compared to normal traffic (996,555 vehicles) in the same period. When compared with the Christmas 2022 period, the total traffic volume increased by 10.23% (1,154,391 vehicles).


Meanwhile, for the distribution of traffic leaving Jabotabek towards the three directions, namely the majority of 621,609 vehicles (48.85%) heading east (Trans Java and Bandung), 359,766 vehicles (28.27%) heading west (Merak) and 291,059 vehicles ( 22.87%) towards the South (Puncak).

For this reason, he also appealed to road users to time their journey back to Jabotabek to avoid congestion that occurred on the day predicted to be the peak of the 2023 Christmas backflow, namely Tuesday, December 26 2023.

“Road users who are still given leeway can shift travel times to avoid vehicle build-ups on the day which is predicted to be the peak of backflow for Christmas 2023,” said Lisye, in a written statement, Monday (25/12/2023).

Following are the details of traffic distribution:

EAST DIRECTION (TRANS JAVA & BANDUNG)
• Traffic leaving Jabotabek heading towards Trans Java via the Cikampek Utama GT on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, with a total of 329,919 vehicles, an increase of 66.45% from normal traffic.
• Traffic leaving Jabotabek heading towards Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama GT on the Cipularang Toll Road, with a total of 291,690 vehicles, an increase of 29.33% from normal traffic.
The total traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Trans Java and Bandung via the two GTs was 621,609 vehicles, an increase of 46.69% from normal traffic.

WEST DIRECTION (MERAK)
Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Merak via GT Cikupa on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road was 359,766 vehicles, an increase of 10.29% from normal traffic.

SOUTH DIRECTION (PEAK)
Meanwhile, the number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek heading towards Puncak via GT Ciawi on the Jagorawi Toll Road was 291,059 vehicles, an increase of 18.03% from normal traffic.

Jasa Marga appeals to toll road users to anticipate travel during the 2023/2024 Christmas holiday period well.
