ChatGPT Creator Boss Admits Jews Defended, Muslims Pressured Tech – 9 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – OpenAI boss Sam Altman suddenly spoke of support for the Muslim and Jewish communities in the technology industry. According to the figure behind the popular ChatGPT chatbot, there are differences between the two.

OpenAI is the company that created the GPT artificial intelligence technology, which was then used as the foundation of the ChatGPT chatbot service.

In his X/Twitter account, Altman explained that the Muslim and Arab communities in the United States technology industry were not comfortable talking about recent experiences. This refers to the impact of the war in the Gaza region.

“Muslim and Arab (especially Palestinian) colleagues in the tech community I spoke with felt uncomfortable talking about their recent experiences, often for fear of retaliation and damage to career prospects,” Altman wrote.

He also answered a question from user X about the experiences of the Jewish community. Claiming to be Jewish, he said the industry was very supportive, in contrast to what happened to Muslims.

“I'm Jewish. I believe that antisemitism is a significant and growing problem in the world, and I see a lot of people in the industry supporting me, and I really appreciate that. I don't see anything like that happening to Muslims,” he said.

The war in the Gaza region itself has had an impact on increasing antisemitism and Islamophobia in the United States and a number of other countries. That view has increased since October 7, 2023, when the Hamas group attacked Israel, human rights advocates say.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said in the two months after the war broke out, incidents related to Islamophobia and bias against Palestinians and Arabs increased in the US. The increase was also no joke, reaching 172% compared to the previous year.

The attack, according to Israeli estimates, killed 1,200 people. Not long after, Israel also attacked Gaza.

The Ministry of Health reported that the attack killed 22 thousand Palestinians. This number is almost 1% of the country's total population, namely 2.3 million people.
