In Indonesia, Burger King first entered in the 1980s. However, his journey stopped in 1998 due to the monetary crisis.

Burger King only returned to Indonesia a decade later or in 2007. Burger King returned to Indonesia under the banner of PT Sari Burger Indonesia which is part of the Adiperkasa Mitra Group (MAP).

Until now, Burger King's ownership status in Indonesia is still held by MAP. Meanwhile, global ownership is under the parent Restaurant Brands International.
