Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – As a bank that focuses on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) has a strong commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector. BRI has guidance in agricultural clusters, one of which is for food or fruit business products, crystal guava.
This guava is a guava variety that is sought after by consumers because it has the benefit of lowering cholesterol and maintaining blood sugar. At the BRI Ketawangrejo Kutoarjo Unit, there are customers who have successfully cultivated crystal guava in Purworejo with the Tanwidjie Kristal Guava brand.
Suyanto is a 46 year old man from Munggangsari, Grabag, Purworejo who serves as Chair of the Tanwidjie Crystal Guava Cluster. He revealed that the name “tanwidjie” itself comes from the Javanese acronym “without wiji”, or without seeds in Indonesian. In cultivating his plants, he admitted that he was helped by KUR BRI.
“Thanks to the BRI KUR, the harvest of guava plants, which previously could be counted on the fingers of one hand, now reaches 700 trees. The land area itself is approximately 6,000-6,600 square meters,” said Suyanto, quoted Monday (3/6/2024).
As a farmer, initially he cultivated nearly 1 hectare of land for papaya, guava and several other fruits. Then together with colleagues from the same cluster, a total of 20 people, in 2018-2019 they applied for BRI KUR.
“Each person gets Rp. 25 million to be implemented on their respective cultivated land. Likewise for repayment installments, the amount depends on the individual,” he said.
Armed with BRI KUR capital, Suyanto feels he can focus more on taking care of his crystal guava plantation. Helping in terms of funding, as well as realizing his dreams as a farmer producing commodities that are in demand by the community.
In one harvest, the garden covering an area of 6,600 square meters can produce six quintals of quality A crystal guava which is sold for IDR 11,000 per kg, and quality B which is marketed for IDR 10,000 per kg. He serves local markets, suppliers, resellers, and modern markets
By becoming a BRI KUR customer, Suyanto, as a farmer, feels that his family's economic sector has been lifted. “From uncertain agricultural results, KUR makes income clearer. Especially if the installments are paid off in the future,” said Yanto.
Thanks to BRI KUR funding which has resulted in economic improvements and certainty in the seedless crystal guava business, Suyanto was invited to represent the regional cluster at the Mantriku UMKM BRILiaN cluster bazaar, Yogyakarta in 2021.
“Economically it has improved, while sales are facilitated for free. So if you want to progress, including getting capital, as a farmer you can rely on BRI KUR. To access transactions, applications and credit connections, KUR is very helpful, easy to realize,” he said.
Separately, Micro Business Director Supari said that the majority of BRI KUR was distributed to the production sector, with a proportion reaching 55.95%.
“In general, BRI's micro business strategy in 2024 will focus on empowerment before financing. BRI as a bank committed to MSMEs has an empowerment framework starting from the basic phase, integration, to interconnection,” said Supari.
In addition, the Company continues to accelerate KUR distribution to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. From January to April 2024, BRI succeeded in distributing KUR worth IDR 59.96 trillion to 1.2 million debtors.
Just so you know, this achievement is equivalent to 36% of the KUR distribution target broken down by the government to BRI in 2024, namely IDR 165 trillion.
