Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Communication and Information regulates game classification through Minister of Communication and Information Regulation Number 2 of 2024. In this classification there must be a rating included to adjust the game content based on age group.
Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized the obligation of parental assistance for the 3 year, 7 year age group categories, as well as the 13 and 15 year age group categories.
“Parents are obliged to guide their children. Yes, parents are also responsible, once they are rated 13 years and over or 17 years and over, parents should be careful,” he stressed in response to journalists' questions about the potential for blocking games with violent themes. like Free Fire, Tuesday (23/4/2024).
To make monitoring easier, the Minister of Communication and Information advised parents to use kids mode, which is currently provided by many gadget manufacturers and game developers.
If this mode is activated on a gadget, access to the content provided is child-friendly content.
“Our job is together, right? When we use kids mode, we protect children in particular from various games that contain violence and pornography,” he concluded.
In this regard, the government said it could block games that do not meet the requirements of the Minister of Communication and Information Regulation Number 2 of 2024. This was conveyed by the Deputy for Special Protection of Children at the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) Nahar.
Nahar revealed that blocking would be carried out if the game was proven to violate the Minister of Communication and Information Regulation on Game Classification.
“Online game play must be age appropriate. Children should not play games intended for adults because adult game content contains scenes that are not suitable for children to watch, such as scenes of violence, physical fighting and so on. Games made by children are “games enable children to stimulate positive imagination, get to know nature and plants,” said Nahar CNBC Indonesia.
