Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The National Awakening Party (PKB) opened its voice regarding the party's stance after Prabowo Subianto, who is the rival of PKB General Chair (Ketum) Muhaimin Iskandar in the presidential election (pilpres), was ahead in the quick count and real count while the General Election Commission (KPU) related to the results of the presidential election (pilpres).

Chairman of the DPR RI PKB faction, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, stated that his party did not yet have a position on whether to join Prabowo's government or become the opposition. He admitted that PKB would still wait for the official results of the 2024 election.

“What I said earlier, let's first look at the results of this election, if it is related to the track record of how long we have been in government, that will be determined not by ourselves, but through official meetings. The structure in the PKB, including the AMIN National Team, will be discussed,” said Cucun. at the PKB DPP Office, Jalan Raden Saleh, Central Jakarta, Sunday (18/2/2024).

Quoting detik.com, Cucun added that up to now there has been no decision from the party regarding the future position of PKB. He also said that communication with other camps had not yet been carried out.

“There hasn't been any (communication) until now. Such a map will not be directly proportional to the steps because every party has its integrity, yes, every party has a definite stance that it will take and that is certain,” he added.

Furthermore, Cucun also welcomed the plan by Prabowo's vice presidential candidate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to join camps 01 and 03. However, there is no certainty when this plan will be carried out.

“For example, such efforts to carry out political communication by political elites are fine. Yes, we appreciate it and it is a form of how to develop this country as is done by political elites who are used to it in Jakarta, right? build communication,” he said.

“Regarding this attitude, there has been no such thing until now. There is nothing about how we will form a coalition or for example an opposition. Previously we saw that the 5 big parties had an opposition, until now we have had no discussions regarding that,” he concluded.
