Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The entry of Elon Musk's satellite internet service caused a stir in the Indonesian telecommunications industry. Starlink has been accused of entering too easily without any investment, even though its services have the potential to erode the market for domestic industrial players who have invested trillions of rupiah in capital.
In an interview with CNBC Indonesia TV, Deputy for Investment and Mining Coordination, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Septian Hario Seto revealed the chronology of Starlink's entry into Indonesia.
Seto also responded to accusations that the Indonesian government was giving special treatment, or a red carpet, to Starlink in order to persuade Elon Musk to open a Tesla production facility in Indonesia.
Watch the interview with Seto on the Profit program on Tuesday (4/6/2024) at 11.00 WIB at CNBC Indonesia TV.
