MK Presidential Election Dispute Hearing: Jokowi's Nepotism in Gibran's Nomination Unproven! News – 58 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Constitutional Court (MK) emphasized that there were no problems in fulfilling the requirements for Gibran Rakabuming Raka's nomination as vice presidential candidate. This was read out by Constitutional Court Judge Arief Hidayat in the Constitutional Court's decision, Monday (22/4/2024).

As is known, presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 01 accused the president of involvement in the Constitutional Court's decision to pass the age requirement for vice presidential candidates. This decision is considered to support Gibran Rakabuming Raka as vice presidential candidate.

Arief Hidayat revealed that the applicant's argument regarding the Constitutional Court/MK decision Number 2 of 2023, saying that there were serious violations of the code of ethics in decision making, was not necessarily sufficient evidence to convince the court that there was an act of nepotism which gave rise to abuse of the President's power in changing the requirements for candidate pairs. .

“Therefore, there is no problem in fulfilling these requirements for Gibran Rakabuming Raka as vice presidential candidate from the relevant party and the results of the verification and determination of candidate pairs carried out by the respondent are in accordance with these provisions and there is no evidence that can convince the Court that there has been presidential intervention in the changes “requirements for the 2024 presidential candidate pair,” stressed Arief.

In this decision, the MK also emphasized that the accusation that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) participated in girls in the 2024 Presidential Election was not proven.

“The Petitioner's argument stating that the failure of the plan to extend the President's term of office to three terms was responded to by the President by supporting the candidacy of one of the running mates… who was positioned as a replacement for the incumbent president, according to the court the truth cannot be further proven by the Petitioner,” said Constitutional Court Judge Daniel Yusmic P. Foekh.
