Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The National Data Center is temporarily experiencing disruptions after being attacked by ransomware since Thursday (20/6/2024). At the same time, the government is also eradicating online gambling.
The Ministry of Communication and Information through Decree number B-1678/M.KOMINFO/PI.02.02/06/2024 dated June 21, 2024 asked telecommunications service providers for internet access gateway services (Network Access Point/NAP) to cut off internet access related to online gambling. The cutoff was carried out from and to Cambodia and Davao Philippines.
Regarding the similarity in the timing of the termination of online gambling access with the ransomware cyber attack on PDNS, the Ministry of Communication and Information also provided an explanation.
Director General of Aptika at the Ministry of Communication and Information Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan explained that there was no indication of a ransomware attack because the government was actively eradicating online gambling.
According to him, the forensic team is working to find out information about the disruption that caused the immigration service to be paralyzed.
“The indications are not yet visible there. Currently, the forensic team is working on the details until they find out how far,” said Semuel at a press conference, quoted on Tuesday (25/6/2024).
Samuel also said that 210 agencies were affected by ransomware attacks since last week.
Recovery has also begun to be carried out in stages. Immigration has relocated services, as have LKPP Sikap, Menkomarves, and the Kediri city government.
“From the data, 210 agencies from both central and regional governments have been affected. The ones that have been up are immigration, relocating and turning on their services. LKPP's attitude is already on, Marves has an event licensing service that is already on, Kediri city is already on, the others are in progress,” explained Semuel.
