Not King Salman, the richest Muslim king in the world today


Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Some of you may consider King Salman bin Abdulaziz bin Saud of Saudi Arabia to be the richest Muslim king in the world. But that turned out to be a big mistake.

King Salman is no richer than the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah. Yes, with wealth worth US$ 28 billion (Rp. 438 trillion), Hassanal Bolkiah is ranked the second richest king in the world after the King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn who has wealth of US$ 43 billion, as well as the Muslim king who has the most wealth in the world today.


“The Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah… has an estimated net worth of U$28 billion,” write VisualCapitalist which refers The Business Standard 2018quoted on Sunday (17/3/2024).

“Most of this wealth comes from oil and gas investments – this sector is the backbone of the country's economy, and half of Brunei's GDP depends on oil revenues,” he added.

“The king likes to spend his fortune on several luxuries, including a large collection of 7,000 cars worth more than US$5 billion, and several private jets,” the page explained again.

After Hassanal Bolkiah, King Salman was ranked next with assets of US$ 18 billion. The Emir of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum occupies the next position with wealth of US$ 14 billion.

Another richest Muslim king is Qatar's King Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with a fortune of US$ 2 billion. Then the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI with the same amount of wealth.
