PBNU Doesn't See Hilal, Ramadan Predicted Tuesday 12 March 2024 News – 12 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, has monitored the moon or new moon at a number of points in Indonesia on Sunday (10/3/2024). New moon monitoring is carried out to determine the start of the holy month of Ramadan 2024.

As a result, the General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf said that the new moon is not visible in Indonesia.

“In accordance with calculations, the height of the moon according to the calculation results, the highest in Banda Aceh is still very small, only 0 degrees. That means it does not meet the requirements,” he said, in a press conference, Sunday (10/3/3034).

The results of PBNU's lunar observations were then reported to the Ministry of Religion as material for the isbat session to determine 1 Ramadhan 1445 H.

“This is of course a consideration for Ramadan 1445 Hijriah, so we can expect that the Ramadan isbat decision will state that Ramadan begins or will fall on Tuesday 12 March 2024.”

Please note, Muhammadiyah residents will start fasting on Monday, March 11 2024. So, tonight Muhammadiyah residents have performed the first tarawih prayer.
