Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) opened its voice regarding the party's political stance after Prabowo Subianto won the Indonesian presidential election (pilpres). This was conveyed by the Secretary General of the PDI-P, Hasto Kristiyanto.

Previously, PDIP nominated Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate to compete with Prabowo. Under these conditions, Hasto said that the party with the bull logo had the possibility of being outside the government.

“So, in our constitution, we are not a parliamentary system, there is no term opposition. From the experience of the PDI Perjuangan 2004-2009, the position at that time in 2004-2009 was outside the government. This is the government system that we built,” said Hasto to journalists when met at the High End Building, Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (15/2/2024).

However, even though he is outside the government, Hasto ensures that the PDI Perjuangan supports policies that are pro-people and at the same time build the nation's capacity in aggregate and collectively for progress.

“We support that. But, when there is something different, for example, rice imports that are detrimental to the interests of farmers, then that's where we convey our attitude,” said Hasto.

However, he said that currently the PDI Perjuangan's position had not been determined. This is because the PDI Perjuangan is still monitoring the entire vote counting recapitulation process from the KPU.

“Which will later be used as a basis for decision making regarding the determination of the selected candidate pairs,” said Hasto.
