Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Samsung has finally released another mid-range cellphone from the flagship A series, namely the Galaxy A55 5G and A35 5G.

The most striking difference between the two is the placement of the selfie camera on the front screen. The Samsung A35 5G has a selfie camera placed in an “Infinity-O” punch hole with this front camera housing being different from its predecessor which still uses an “Infinity-V” water drop-shaped notch.

Both have a similar design and both feature an “infinity-O” punch hole screen as a selfie camera housing. The back is also equipped with a design with three cameras that look the same.

Regarding the price, the Galaxy A55 5G is sold in the same price range as its predecessor, the Galaxy A54. It is sold starting at IDR 5,999 million.

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G specifications

MX Product Marketing Senior Manager Samsung Indonesia Ilham Indrawan said this cellphone is aimed at epic storytellers who really pay attention to the aesthetics of images such as the color details produced before uploading them to social media.

He said that this cellphone brings a few AI features, namely AI Powered Portrait, and is equipped with other flagship experiences such as dual recording.

“Why do we bring dual recording? Because the features of the 5G chipset on this cellphone are capable of dual recording operating simultaneously,” he said during a special session with the media some time ago.

Talking about the chipset, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is powered by the new System-on-Chip (SoC) Exynos 1480, different from its predecessor which relied on the Exynos 1380.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G uses a 6.6 inch AMOLED screen with Full HD Plus resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

For photography, Samsung offers a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra wide camera, 5 MP macro camera and 32 MP selfie camera.

The Samsung A55 5G uses a jumbo battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. This cellphone is also equipped with the Knox security feature and water and dust resistance certification with an IP67 rating.

The specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G are almost the same as the Samsung A55 5G. The difference lies in the chipset which relies on the Exynos 1380 and a selfie camera with 13 MP resolution.

This cellphone has started to be sold exclusively at samsung.com and Shopee with a special offer period from Samsung from 11-14 March 2024.
