Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Candidate Pair for President and Vice President Number 3, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD, promises a decent life for many groups of Indonesian society.
This was emphasized again by Cawapres Mahfud MD in the Cawapres Debate which took place at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (22/12/2023).
There are at least 20 promises in the vision and mission of the Ganjar-Mahfud pair if they are later elected as President and Vice President 2024-2029. Of the 20 promises, one of them is a program to build 10 million residential units for the community.
“Brothers and sisters of the entire Indonesian nation, we, Ganjar-Mahfud, want to ensure that we run a clean country through indiscriminate law enforcement. Ga-Ma has prepared 21 superior programs worth IDR 2,500 trillion for 5 years,” said Mahfud, quoted Monday (25/12/ 2023).
“10 million residences, having a house is as easy as having a motorbike,” he added.
According to detikcom, the couple Ganjar and Mahfud have a housing program called Rumah Kita-10 million residences. This program is the construction of new or renovated housing such as simple houses, rusunami, rusunawa, accompanied by the availability of strategic and affordable land from economic centers and public transportation.
This program is prioritized for low-income people (MBR), informal sector workers, laborers and young people with an easy and cheap financing scheme.
They also have a Healthy Village program which improves slum villages in villages and cities with decent housing, healthy sanitation, drinking and clean water, adequate public and social facilities, and sufficient green open space.
For your information, if you look back, the backlog of home ownership in Indonesia is still quite high, reaching 12.7 million. The housing backlog is a condition of the gap between the number of houses built and the number of houses needed by the community.
The backlog figure is difficult to reduce because demand continues to increase due to population growth amidst limited land and high interest rates on home ownership loans.
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KemenPUPR) estimates that the current housing backlog reaches 12.7 million. In detail, in urban areas it reached 10 million while in rural areas it reached 2.7 million.
The backlog figure has not changed much in the last decade, only decreasing slightly compared to 2010 when it was recorded at 13.5 million units. The government's target for the backlog of home ownership is to shrink to 8 million by 2045.
