Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that it will announce the latest electricity rates for 13 non-subsidized customers at the end of June 2024.
Just so you know, rate adjustments or tariff adjustment PLN electricity is carried out every three months. Currently, the applicable electricity rates are still the same as in the April-June 2024 period.
The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman P. Hutajulu, revealed that his party will soon announce the electricity tariffs that will apply in the period of July 2024, this is said to be done at the end of June 2024.
“We're waiting for the press conference. End of June (2024),” said Jisman briefly to CNBC Indonesia, Monday (24/6/2024).
Just so you know, the calculation of electricity tariff adjustments for non-subsidized customers is done every three months. The applicable electricity tariff will refer to changes in the realization of macroeconomic parameters, namely the exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and Reference Coal Price (HBA).
However, one of the components that determines electricity rates is the Rupiah exchange rate against the United States (US) dollar, which is currently continuing to depreciate. Based on Refinitiv data on Monday (24/6/2024) trading at 14.26 WIB, the rupiah was monitored at IDR 16,395 per US$.
Previously, the government had decided not to raise fuel and electricity prices this year. However, the decision is only valid until June 2024.
This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. According to him, the decision was made in a plenary cabinet meeting held by President Jokowi.
“Earlier, it was decided in the plenary cabinet meeting that there would be no increase in electricity prices, no increase in fuel prices until June, both subsidized and non-subsidized,” said Airlangga at his office, Jakarta, Monday (26/2/2024).
With this provision, according to Airlangga, the government has set an additional budget for Pertamina and PLN so that there are no changes in prices.
However, he has not explained the amount of the change in the energy subsidy budget. As is known, this year's energy subsidy target is IDR 186.9 trillion. The details are IDR 113.3 trillion for fuel and LPG subsidies, and IDR 73.6 trillion for electricity subsidies.
Therefore, he said, the state budget deficit will widen from the set 2.29% of GDP this year to around 2.8%. Along with the addition of budget needs for several budget items.
