Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The 2024 Eid homecoming period will take place soon. Because Indonesian people generally go home or return to their hometowns, traffic jams are inevitable.
For information, the government predicts the number of homecoming travelers for Eid 2024 will reach 193 million people this year. The number has increased by 50 percent compared to the number of homecoming travelers last year which amounted to 120 million.
With the total movement of people increasing, traffic jams during the 2024 Eid homecoming could potentially occur. For this reason, travelers, especially those who drive private vehicles, can avoid congested roads so that the trip home for Eid 2024 goes smoothly.
How to find out which roads are congested to support your Eid homecoming can be done by using maps applications such as Google Maps and Waze.
Here's a complete way to find out traffic jams using the maps application.
How to find traffic jams via Google Maps
1. Open the Google Maps application on your cellphone and make sure Google Maps is allowed to access the Location feature on your cellphone
2. Type specifically the purpose of your trip from one location to a certain location
3. Once the route appears, click the small square icon that appears in the map display section
4. Then, select the “Traffic” or “Traffic” map type option and Google Maps will display a map with specific information about traffic conditions on the road.
5. If so, you can choose to travel by motorbike or car.
On the map presented by Google Maps, there are three road colors that show traffic conditions, which include red, yellow and green roads.
The explanation for each road color on the Google Maps map is that the road is red to indicate traffic jams. Meanwhile, yellow roads indicate that traffic conditions are quite congested, but there is still distance between vehicles. Meanwhile, if the color is green, it means that traffic conditions are smooth.
How to check traffic jams on the road via Waze
Similar to Google Maps, Waze also has a feature that displays traffic conditions on the road.
1. Open the Waze application and make sure you are allowed to access the Location feature on your cellphone.
2. Create a travel route
3. After that, traffic flow conditions on several road sections will immediately appear on the Waze map
4. You can follow the best path that has been determined.
On the Waze map, there are three colors that indicate road traffic conditions. Red means there is traffic jam, yellow means traffic conditions are running smoothly, and gray means traffic conditions are running smoothly.
Apart from that, Waze also invites its users to contribute by providing information they encounter while traveling. The information you report will later be very helpful to other users, especially those who have the same route as you.
When information is found in the application that the road to be crossed is congested, the user can choose another route, so that the Eid 2024 homecoming journey can run more smoothly.
Happy homecoming!
