Launching from South China Morning Post (SCMP) (22/4/2024), the unknown street vendor managed to enroll his two daughters in a prestigious Chinese university without the help of a scholarship or generous assistance. In other words, it's all your own money.
The money was obtained from selling roasted sweet potatoes on the side of the road. From an income of 100 yuan or Rp. 200 thousand a day, the trader always puts the money into savings. He only takes a little money if there is an urgent need.
During the saving process, he asked children not to worry about education costs and asked them to always study hard. On this basis, both parents continued to work hard trading on the side of the road. In the end, the trader's hard work paid off.
Recently, his first child, Zhang Bingbing, was declared accepted for a doctoral degree at Dalian University of Technology.
This university is one of 39 prestigious campuses in existence pilot projects Chinese government in an effort to create world-class educational institutions. Only 2% of applicants can be accepted at the campus. Meanwhile, his second child also succeeded in studying a master's degree in physics at Northeastern University, which is also a prestigious campus pilot project Chinese government.
While studying, Zhang admitted that the money from his parents was not enough. Therefore, he works to reduce the burden on parents. He works as a tutor earning 200-300 yuan per hour. At this point, the academic success of both children changed the street vendor's life.
From a poor family that had difficulty living, parents who never went to school and hawkers, it turned into a respected and respected family. The child has now broken the record as the first graduate and doctorate in his village.
