Twitter Found Guilty of Not Paying Tech Employee Bonuses – 1 day ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia-A federal judge in the United States declared X (formerly Twitter) guilty of not paying its employees bonuses. Unmitigated, the social media company now owned by Elon Musk is thought to have not paid employee bonuses worth millions of US dollars.

This court decision stems from a lawsuit filed by former Twitter senior director of compensation Mark Schobinger, who left the company last May. One month after resigning, Mark sued Twitter for violating his employment contract.

Schobinger in his lawsuit said that in 2022, the company promised its employees a 50% bonus for the annual target, but never paid it.

After rejecting the objection filed by

“When Schobinger did what Twitter asked, the company offered bonus payments as stipulated in California state law. And when those bonus payments were not made, Twitter breached the contract,” the judge wrote in his decision, as quoted by Reuters, Sunday, ( 12/24/2024).

X currently no longer has a public relations department. Reuters wrote that X's official account also did not respond outside working hours.

Previously, Twitter's attorney stated that the bonus promise was only conveyed verbally so it could not be considered a contract. They asked the judge to apply Texas state law in this case, as quoted by Courthouse News. However, the judge rejected Twitter's objection and stated that California state law applied in this case.

X was hit with lawsuits from former employees and company leaders after Musk bought the company last year and fired more than 50% of his subordinates.

The lawsuit was filed sharing allegations, such as X's discriminatory actions against elderly, female and disabled employees, as well as not providing notice in mass dismissals. The company denies all the allegations.
