Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Elon Musk's social media company, X, formerly known as Twitter, is looking for new employees. X is looking for 100 people to monitor content that violates child protection rules on the platform.
Musk will house the 100-person Trust and Safety center at X's new office in Austin, Texas. The center was announced by Musk ahead of a hearing with the United States Senate on January 31 on child sexual exploitation in online spaces.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino is scheduled to testify at congress along with officials from other technology companies, namely Meta (parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram), Snap, TikTok, and Discord.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO of Meta, is scheduled to appear before members of the US Senate, as is TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
“The team is being built,” said Joe Benarroch, head of business operations at X. He said the new Austin office is targeted to be fully occupied by the end of the year.
Musk acquired Twitter in 2022 and then changed its name to X. Since becoming the owner of
X's new headquarters in Austin will help combat other negative content on social media.
