Welcoming Ramadan, 25,000 New Carpets Installed at the Grand Mosque

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia has prepared 25,000 new carpets for Ramadan at the Grand Mosque, Mecca.

Quoted from Awed News, the Grand Mosque recorded a surge in the number of people performing Umrah and attending prayers every month of Ramadan. Congregants also flock to the mosque to perform tarawih prayers every night.

The Authority spokesperson added that 50 ablution places were available for use inside the mosque and 3,000 toilets on its grounds. Apart from that, there are 15,000 Zamzam containers and 150 Zamzam water stations scattered around the mosque to quench the congregation's thirst before and after fasting.

Spokesman Maher bin Mansi Al-Zahrani added that the mosque is cleaned and disinfected 10 times a day, with 4,000 employees working under the supervision of 400 supervisors around the clock.

A total of 4,000 pieces of equipment and machinery are used to ensure the health and safety of visitors, and 3,000 liters of quality air fresheners are used to ensure the comfort of the congregation.
