Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is currently in China on a working visit. During his visit, the president-elect reviewed the implementation of the free lunch program at a school in Beijing, China, on Tuesday (2/4/2024).

It should be noted that the free lunch program was also a campaign promise for Prabowo-Gibran when they were fighting in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). This program, said Prabowo, was designed to overcome stunting while improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources.

During a visit to Beijing No. 2 Middle School in Dongcheng District, Beijing, Prabowo, accompanied by the school, visited the canteen which served free lunches for students. The menu served consists of animal protein, vegetables and snacks.

The students appeared to be eating lunch prepared by the school in an orderly manner.

“Very healthy,” said Prabowo when he saw the menu the students were eating.

He also had time to inspect the classrooms at the school and was greeted with warm applause from the students.

“What class is this?” Prabowo asked the Beijing No. representative. 2 Middle School.

“This is 9th grade,” he answered.

Not only that, Prabowo also took the time to chat with one of the male students and asked him what his dreams were when he graduated from school.

“What do you want to be when you graduate?” Prabowo asked one of the students at Beijing No. 2 Middle School.

“Scientists,” answered the student.

“Scientists? Very good,” said Prabowo while encouraging the students.

“Do your best!” Prabowo said in Chinese.

Prabowo's visit to the Beijing school came after a series of meetings with high-ranking officials in China. While in the Bamboo Curtain Country, Prabowo previously met Chinese President Xi Jinping, and met Chinese PM Li Qiang and Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun.
