When will the peak rainy season in the Republic of Indonesia be in 2024, this is the BMKG Tech forecast – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Early 2024 is predicted to be the peak of the rainy season in Indonesia. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that most areas will experience the peak of the rainy season in January and February 2024, namely 385 Seasonal Zones (ZOM) or around 55 percent of the area.

When compared to the normal peak of the rainy season, the peak of the rainy season in most areas is predicted to be the same as normal, namely 351 ZOM.

Meanwhile, other areas are predicted to move back from normal, namely 203 ZOM, and advance to normal, namely 145 ZOM, as quoted from the official BMKG statement.

In his previous statement, Deputy Meteorologist at the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Guswanto said that the peak of the rainy season does not mean the period of the heaviest rain. The peak in question means that the number of areas (ZOM) covered by rain in Indonesia has reached the highest number.

“The peak of the rainy season is predicted to be January-February 2024. This is based on calculations of the number of season zones,” said Guswanto, quoted from CNN Indonesia.

The 385 ZOMs cover western Jambi, southern South Sumatra, most of Java, Bali, NTB, NTT.

Then, parts of Central Kalimantan, parts of South Kalimantan, parts of northern Sulawesi Island, parts of North Maluku, southern West Papua and western Papua.

However, several regions show different peak rainy seasons. Most of Sumatra, West Kalimantan and North Kalimantan will reach their peak between November 2023-January 2024.

The southern regions of South Sumatra, Lampung, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and Java Island will experience the peak of the rainy season between January-March 2024.

Meanwhile, the rainfall forecast for Dasarian III December 2023 – Dasarian II January 2024 for the Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan regions is dominated by low-high criteria.
